Photography Portfolio

Hello everyone! I am currently listening to the song "ghost busters"
that has nothing to do with what I am going to talk about, but oh well.
ANYWAYS

In My ADDA class (advanced digital design applications)
I get to pick one main project for the rest of this school year.
I have chosen to work on my Photography Portfolio for colleges =]
so it would be excellent if I could get all of your advice on what
photos I should use through this year.
I get to pick 20 of my best shots.

I don't want my portfolio to be just good angled pic with good lighting and contrast.
I want my portfolio to make the viewer feel what the photo feels;
to experience what is happening in the photos.
I want to Inspire.

and if any of you have an photographer's view or if you have
created a portfolio before, I would LOVE any bit of advice.
good or bad. Any tips etc.
that would be much appreciated =]
